Description
Its large size characterizes the Northwestern Neotropical rattlesnake, pronounced vertebral ridge, and highly potent venom. It usually hunts at night using the infrared sensors located in the pit between its eyes and its nostrils to find prey, hence the name Pit Viper. It is found mostly in Southwestern Mexico.
